This week: May 17-21

We will be finishing The Lovely Bones. If you are absent, please keep up with the reading and assignment schedule below.

Monday - We will be reading Chapter 19. Do the questions for the chapter in your study guides.

Tuesday - Read Chapter 20 and do the questions in the study guides.

Wednesday - Read Chapter 21. Do the questions in the study guides.

Thursday - Read Chapter 22 and 23. Do the questions in the study guides.

Friday - Read "Bones" and do the questions. There will be a unit test on the entire book on Monday.

This Week: May 10th-14th

Monday - We will finish reading "Snapshots" and begin working on this weeks writing assignment in class. Completed assignments on "Snapshots" are due on Thursday.

Tuesday - Continue working on "Snapshot" assignment in class.

Wednesday - No School

Thursday - "Snapshot" assignments due. Read Chapters 17 & 18 and do the study guide questions up through Chapter 18. If you need a copy of the study guide, click here.

We will continue reading The Lovely Bones. If you are absent, please keep up with the schedule below.

Monday: Please complete through Chapter 13. Answer the questions in your study guide for Chapters 11-13 to be checked tomorrow.

Tuesday: Discussion and review of last three chapters. Begin reading Chapter 14. For home work, finish reading and do the questions for Chapter 14.

Wednesday: Chapters 15 and 16. There will be a quiz tomorrow covering Chapters 11-16.

Thursday: Quiz Chapters 11-16.

Friday: We will complete the questions for Chapters 15 & 16. We will begin reading Chapter 17.

This Week; April 26-30

Monday - Read Chapters 5 & 6 and do the discussion questions from your study guides.

Tuesday - Read Chapters 7 & 8 and do the questions in your study guides.

Thursday - Read Chapter 11 and do the questions.

Friday - Read Chapter 12 and do the questions.

There will be a quiz next week at the completion of Chapter 16.

This Week:April 12-16

Luke Jackson vs. R.P. McMurphy - Cultural Heroes or Anti-Heroes?

We will be in the writing lab this entire week working on essays based on the above question. If you need a copy of the essay question click here. Essays are due on Monday, April 19.

This Week: April 5th-9th
Comparative Study Unit: Cool Hand Luke & One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
This week we will explore the similarities and differences in theme, characterization, symbolism and imagery in the film and the novel.
Assignment: After each daily class discussion of the film, you should address the questions in your film study guide. Answer the questions as you go. The entire study guide is due on Monday, April 12 and counts as two homework grades. If you need a copy, click here.

This week - March 22-26th

We will be finishing the novel. As discussed, your unit test will be on Thursday. If you are going to be absent, try to make arrangements to take the test on Wednesday.

Handout on "Christ Imagery" is due on Thursday as well.

We will be viewing some of the film on Friday!

This Week: March 15-19th

Monday - We will be reading pages 157-168 in class and reviewing the study guides up to these chapters. For home work, read pages 169-190...pop quiz tomorrow????

Tuesday - We will review and discuss the questions in your study guides up through Part 3. We will be reading beginning on page 191.

Wednesday - Thursday: We will be reading up through page 231. If you are absent, please keep up with the reading schedule. There will be a quiz tomorrow covering the reading.

NEXT WEEK - We will be finishing the novel and the Unit Test will be on Thursday, 3/25.

This Week: March 8th-12th:

Monday-Tuesday: We will be finishing Part 1 of the novel. Unit test on all of Part 1 tomorrow. The test will include vocabulary.

Wednesday - TEST TODAY! Please finish reading "Just at the Edge..." and do the study guide questions for this chapter. They are due tomorrow.
Thursday - Read "The way the Big Nurse acted..." and "In group meetings..." and do the corresponding questions in the study guides.

Friday - Review and discussion of chapters. Film clip.

This Week: March 1st -5th

Monday- We will view a clip of the film. Please read the chapter entitled "All through breakfast..." and do the 3 questions in your studyguide.

Tuesday - We will read "There's a Monopoly game going on..." and "There's long spells..." and do the questions in the study guides.

Wednesday - Thursday: Read "A visiting doctor..." on page 112 through "I know how they work it here..." on page 128. There will be a reading quiz tomorrow.

We will continue reading "Cuckoo's Nest" in class and at home. Please follow the schedule below:

Monday - Read and review up through page 70. You will have a quiz on all chapters up through and including "Before noon..." tomorrow. The quiz will be short answer. Please have all the study guide questions completed up through and including this chapter as well. They count as a homework grade.

Tuesday - Quiz. Up to page 70. Begin reading "One Christmas at midnight..." and finish for home work. Do the three questions in the study guides.

Wednesday - Read "First time in a long, long time..." and do the three questions in the study guide.

Thursday - Read "Come morning, McMurphy is up..." and complete the four questions in the study guide.

Friday - Review of all study guide questions this week. Film clip.

This Week - February8-12:

Monday - We will begin reading the novel.

Homework: Vocabulary handout, due tomorrow. Finish reading chapter two "The fog clears..."

Tuesday - We will read "The new man..." in class and answer the questions in the study guide.

Wednesday - Thursday - No School; snow days.

Friday - We will read "In the glass station..." and do the questions in the study guide. We will review all the questions in the study guide.

This Week - February 1-5: Welcome to Contemporary Literature!

This is you senior elective course for the second half of the year and it is going to be a great one!
The course is a comprehensive study of contemporary writers, literature and film from 1950 to the present. Throught the mediums of writing a film, we will explore a variety of contemporary issues and relate them to the human experience. Please see the course syllabus for requirements and works to be studied. Check the blog if you are absent and need the assignment.
This week's schedule is below:
Monday-Tuesday: Course syllabus and overview. We will also be reading a contemporary story by Margaret Atwood titled "Happy Endings" as well as answering some discussion questions. This is your first home work assignment.
Wednesday-Friday: We will begin discussing some background information on our first novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey.
